IMADÉ NIBOKUM IMPACT Created Depressed While Black, an online community turned nonprofit that donates Black-affirming personal care items to psychiatric patients and helps people find Black therapists. Nibokum used to think depression was a “White person’s disease.” She says, “My mom raised us to believe that Black people are strong; we don’t get depression. And prayer is how we cope—not therapy or medication.” Then, in graduate school she had symptoms of severe depression and borderline personality disorder, with multiple suicide attempts. A therapist eventually helped her get better. I love speaking at user group meetings. There aren’t as many Apple user groups out there as there used to be, and these days the meetings are mostly over Zoom, but as someone who mostly speaks with developers, PR people, and media types, it’s refreshing to speak to people who are much more purely enthusiastic about Apple and its platforms. Plant-based eating is experiencing a growth spurt. Almost one-third of Americans say they are actively trying to reduce their consumption of meat and dairy, according to the Plant Based Foods Association. Last year, 28 percent of people reported eating more protein from plant sources, 24 percent had more plant-based dairy, and 17 percent ate more plant-based meat alternatives than they did in 2019, a survey by the International Food Information Council found. Cars have always been my passion, and I am rediscovering that joy by building scale models of them. One of the automobiles that grabbed my attention is the Renault 4, so I was happy to build Heller’s 1/24 scale TL/GTL variant (No. 80759). The kit is simple and builds quickly. I added a few details but focused on finishing. I wanted to represent a slightly worn but not destroyed car.
